Job summary

HFC: Structures is seeking a Graduate Structural Technician to join our Residential team in Auckland. This is a full-time opportunity ideally suited to a recent graduate or someone at the beginning of their career who is looking to develop their technical and Revit skills within a supportive structural engineering environment.

Working alongside our experienced engineers and technicians, you will assist in delivering structural design documentation for a wide range of residential projects,

Qualifications

  • A relevant qualification in drafting, engineering or architecture
  • Experience using Revit
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD would be beneficial
  • Interest in residential construction and building design
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality documentation
  • Good communication and teamwork
  • Proactive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Good organisational skills and ability to manage priorities

Responsibilities

  • Develop 3D Revit models for residential structural designs
  • Produce construction drawings, details, schedules using Revit and AutoCAD
  • Translate structural designs into clear, high-quality documentation
  • Coordinate structural documentation with architectural drawings and models
  • Develop knowledge of residential construction methods, systems and detailing
  • Work across a variety of residential projects from group housing to bespoke homes and multi-unit developments

What you’ll be doing
  • Developing 3D Revit models for residential structural engineering designs
  • Producing construction drawings, details, schedules and documentation using Revit and AutoCAD
  • Working closely with engineers and technicians to accurately translate structural designs into clear, high-quality documentation
  • Assisting with the coordination of structural documentation with architectural and other consultant drawings and models
  • Developing your knowledge of residential construction methods, structural systems and detailing
  • Working across a variety of residential projects, from group housing through to bespoke architectural homes and multi-unit developments
What we’re looking for
  • A relevant qualification in drafting, engineering, architecture or a related discipline
  • Experience using Revit, whether through study, previous employment or personal projects
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD would be beneficial
  • An interest in residential construction, structural engineering and building design
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality documentation
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with engineers and the wider team
  • A proactive attitude, willingness to learn and confidence asking questions
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage priorities and deadlines

Previous industry experience is beneficial but not essential. We are primarily looking for someone with the right attitude, technical aptitude and enthusiasm to learn and develop their career with HFC.
