Job summary

Kirk Roberts Consulting is seeking a Senior Graduate Structural Engineer to join our small dynamic team in Hamilton, New Zealand. You will further develop your design skills across residential, commercial and industrial projects while working with our senior engineers and multidisciplinary team.

You will contribute to design criteria, detailed designs and calculations, coordinate with the design team, and assist with project administration and client liaison.

Qualifications

• 2+ years experience in a similar role.
• Excellent planning, organisation and time management.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Willingness to grow and adapt in a collaborative team.

Responsibilities

• Establishing design criteria and preparing preliminary and detailed designs.
• Performing detailed structural calculations.
• Communicating design information to the team and ensuring documents reflect the design.
• Undertaking site inspections and investigations of simple structures.
• Project administration and management; liaising with clients and external consultants.

We have a new opportunity for a Senior Graduate Structural Engineer to join our small dynamic team in Hamilton. You will have started developing your design skills and gained experience already and our opportunity is to develop those skills further, working across an interesting and complex range of projects both regionally and nationally with our structural discipline.

About The Role

As a Senior Graduate Engineer with us, we will support, develop, and establish your knowledge across residential, commercial and industrial projects. You will be working closely with our Senior Structural Engineers on engineering design and will effectively contribute to:

• Establishing design criteria
• Preparation of preliminary and detailed designs
• Detailed structural calculations
• Communicating information to the design team and checking that the documents reflect the design
• Undertaking site inspections and investigations of simple structures
• Project administration and management
• Working with our design teams including engineers, draughting, and external consultants, and clients

About You

• Qualified with a BEng (Hons) in Structural Engineering, or equivalent
• 2 years+ experience in a similar role
• Adaptable with a keen eye for detail, excellent planning, organisation, and time management skills
• A natural problem solver, with a positive attitude and willingness to grow
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the confidence to liaise with clients, as well as lead and contribute to project delivery
• Enjoy working in a team environment and communicating with a wide range of people
