Job description

Start your career where technology, finance and customer support come together

Are you a recent graduate who enjoys working with numbers, solving problems and making sure the details are right?

We’re looking for a Graduate Payroll Operations to join Datacom. This is an opportunity to build practical experience in payroll operations, financial processing, customer support and technology while learning from an experienced team.

You don’t need to know everything about payroll or tax systems before you start. We’re looking for someone who is curious, organised, comfortable working with numbers and ready to learn.

What you’ll do

In this role, you’ll help make sure important payroll information and payments are processed accurately and on time. You’ll receive guidance and support as you learn how our payroll systems, financial processes and Inland Revenue requirements work.

Your day-to-day work may include:
  • Helping to process and check payroll‑related payments and transactions
  • Reviewing information to make sure records are accurate and complete
  • Matching transactions and account information to identify any differences
  • Supporting the registration and onboarding of clients
  • Monitoring information moving between payroll systems and Inland Revenue
  • Helping resolve payroll filing or payment issues
  • Responding to questions from clients in a clear and helpful way
  • Working with Inland Revenue to investigate information or transaction issues
  • Keeping accurate records and following established processes
  • Looking for simple ways to improve how the team works

You’ll be working with areas known as PAYE, Payday Filing and trust accounts. If these terms are new to you, that’s okay. You’ll learn how they work as part of the role.

What you’ll bring

You could be a great fit if you:

  • Enjoy working with numbers and information
  • Pay close attention to detail
  • Like investigating problems and finding solutions
  • Can organise your work and manage competing priorities
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully
  • Enjoy helping customers and building positive relationships
  • Are comfortable asking questions and learning new systems
  • Have some experience using Microsoft Excel
  • Can work effectively both independently and as part of a small team

Experience in payroll, finance, accounts administration, customer support or office operations would be helpful, but it is not essential.

A diploma or degree is desirable, but we also value the skills, potential and experiences you can bring.
