Job summary

Tradestaff is seeking an experienced GPS Digger Operator for civil projects around South Auckland (Ōtara, Auckland). Earn $35–$40 per hour with weekly pay and join established civil construction teams.

You will operate GPS-equipped excavators, read site plans, and work safely to required levels and grades using GPS machine-control systems.

Qualifications

• Proven excavator operating experience in civil construction.
• Hands-on GPS machine-control experience.
• Current NZ driver's license and endorsements for machinery.

Responsibilities

• Operate GPS-equipped excavators safely and efficiently.
• Use GPS machine-control to meet required levels and grades.
• Carry out bulk earthworks, trenching, and site preparation.
• Read site plans, drawings, and specifications.
• Perform daily pre-start checks and basic maintenance.
• Work safely around site crews and hazards.

What you’ll be doing

• Operating GPS-equipped excavators safely and efficiently
• Using GPS machine-control systems to excavate accurately to required levels and grades
• Carrying out bulk earthworks, trenching, digging, and site preparation
• Reading and working from site plans, drawings, and specifications
• Completing daily pre-start checks and basic machine maintenance
• Working safely around machinery, ground crews, and site hazards
• Following site procedures and maintaining a tidy, safe work area

What we’re looking for

• Proven excavator operating experience in civil construction
• Hands-on experience using GPS machine-control systems
• Appropriate current NZ driver licence and relevant endorsements for the machinery being operated
• Ability to read plans and work accurately to levels, grades and specifications
• Strong understanding of construction site health and safety
• Reliable, safety-focused, and able to work effectively as part of a crew
