Job summary

Tradestaff is seeking an experienced Digger Operator to join a civil construction project in Lower Hutt, NZ. If you're confident operating GPS-equipped excavators and working around underground services, we want to hear from you.

You'll operate GPS machine control to achieve accurate levels, read site plans, perform pre-start checks, and work closely with the site team. A Class 2 driver licence and WTR endorsements are required, with weekly pay and full PPE provided.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Operate excavators safely and efficiently.
• Cut to level using GPS machine control systems.
• Work confidently around live underground services.
• Read and interpret site plans and specifications.
• Carry out daily pre-start checks and basic equipment maintenance.
• Work closely with the site team to meet project deadlines.

What We're Looking For

• Minimum Class 2 Driver Licence.
• Current WTR (Wheels, Tracks & Rollers) endorsements.
• Proven experience operating excavators using GPS machine control.
• Experience working around underground utilities and services.
• Strong understanding of health and safety requirements.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work well within a team.
