Job summary

Snowy River Gold Mine in Reefton is seeking a Gold Room Operator to manage the Intensive Leach Reactor (ILR), smelting activities, and doré production. You will collaborate with the Processing Supervisor and Senior Metallurgist to maintain security, accuracy, and compliance across operations.

Applicants should have proven gold room or mineral processing experience, a strong safety mindset, and the ability to work as part of a team. NZ residency or rights to work will be required.

The Role

Reporting to the Processing Supervisor and working closely with the Senior Metallurgist, you will be responsible for the safe, secure, and efficient operation of the gold room, including the Intensive Leach Reactor (ILR), smelting activities, and gold doré production.

You will maintain high standards of security, accuracy, and compliance while supporting gold recovery targets and operational performance.

• Operate the Intensive Leach Reactor (ILR) and undertake sampling activities
• Conduct smelting and furnace operations to produce gold doré
• Prepare calcine and fluxes for smelting
• Maintain accurate records, reporting, and reconciliation data
• Support processing operations as required
• Work closely with processing and metallurgical teams
• Promote strong safety, security, and environmental standards

About You

• Proven experience in gold room or mineral processing operations
• Strong understanding of gold room security protocols
• High attention to detail and a disciplined approach to work
• Commitment to safe work practices and teamwork
• Strong communication skills
• Current Driver Licence.

Highly Regarded

• Experience with Acacia/Gekko ILR systems
• Experience with Knelson or Falcon gravity concentrators
• Broad gold processing plant experience
• Forklift or other machinery operating competencies

No formal qualifications are required. Practical experience, strong gold room competency, and a commitment to safety and security are what matter most.
