Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is seeking two Medical Laboratory Scientists to expand our germline genomic testing team. You will analyze, interpret, and report genomic tests using NGS, contributing to high-quality patient care from the Molecular Genetics section of LabPlus in Auckland.

Ideal candidates have strong molecular diagnostic experience, attention to detail and a commitment to excellence, with opportunities across the Diagnostic Genetics laboratory.

Qualifications

• Qualified Medical Laboratory Scientist registered with the Medical Sciences Council of NZ and current APC.
• Experience in next generation sequencing and germline variant curation is essential.
• Previous experience in a medical laboratory carrying out molecular diagnostic techniques is essential.
• Methodical and organised approach with focus on accuracy and data quality.
• Good knowledge of ISO15189 standards.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Flexibility to suit service demands and deadlines.
• Working knowledge of computer based systems within a Medical Laboratory.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, interpret, and clinically report germline genomic test results.
• Perform Next Generation Sequencing and related molecular techniques.
• Collaborate across Molecular Genetics and Diagnostic Genetics labs.
• Ensure precision, quality, and timely delivery of results.
