Job summary

Toi Moana Bay of Plenty Regional Council is seeking an experienced Geospatial Analyst to join the Spatial Planning team in Tauranga. You will turn planning questions into clear spatial analysis and help build a region-wide evidence base for the Regional Spatial Plan.

You'll work with planners and cross-council colleagues to integrate diverse datasets, develop GIS solutions, and support governance workshops, community engagement and decision-making with robust spatial insights.

Qualifications

  • Analytical geospatial professional with ability to turn data into insights.
  • Experience supporting planning decisions with spatial evidence.
  • Ability to work across disciplines and communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake spatial analysis, modelling and visualisation to support planning, options assessment and decision-making.
  • Work with planners and project teams to develop fit-for-purpose geospatial solutions.
  • Integrate spatial, demographic, environmental and infrastructure datasets to identify trends and evidence gaps.
  • Support a shared regional spatial evidence base, including metadata and data standards.
  • Prepare maps and spatial products for governance briefings and stakeholder engagement.
  • Provide specialist geospatial advice to internal teams and partner organisations.
  • Build and maintain online mapping tools and applications.
  • Manage corporate spatial data for accuracy and accessibility.
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflows and automate processes.
  • Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
