Job summary

OceanaGold is seeking a Geology Logger to join the Exploration and Geology team at Waihi, New Zealand. The role involves logging drill core, supervising sampling, and delivering accurate geological data to support models and reports.

Live and work in Waihi on a 9 days on, 5 days off roster with 10‑hour shifts. A competitive salary plus bonuses, private healthcare, life insurance, gym membership and other staff perks are on offer.

Qualifications

• BSc Geology or Earth Science degree required.
• Full and current driver licence; ability to drive manual vehicles is required.

Responsibilities

• Undertake logging of exploration and grade control drill core in a timely and accurate manner.
• Supervise core shed technicians during sampling, including sample preparation and ensuring correct sampling protocols.
• Analyse and report assay QA/QC data and sample turnaround time.
• Provide accurate geological data including sampling, assay, logging and orientation information for geological models, presentations and reports.
• Data entry of geological data and validation of QA/QC data.
• Support execution of the diamond drill programme as per drill designs.
• Administrative support for core loggers including supervision of sample dispatches and maintenance of logging systems.
• Assist regional field programmes including mapping, soil sampling, and geophysics.
• Contribute to other activities supporting mining and exploration.
• Participate in personal training and development.
