Job summary

OceanaGold Corporation is seeking a dedicated geologist to join the Waihi operation in New Zealand. The role focuses on core logging, sampling oversight, and data management to support geological models and reporting.

You will work with exploration and geology teams, assist with regional field programmes, and contribute to training initiatives while benefiting from a supportive, safety-focused environment.

Qualifications

• BSc Geology or Earth Science (minimum) is required.
• Full and current driver licence; ability to drive manual vehicles is required.
• Sound technical skills in Geology with mapping and interpretation abilities.
• Strong PC skills and computer literacy.

Responsibilities

• Undertake logging of exploration and grade control drill core in a timely and accurate manner.
• Supervision of core shed technicians during sampling, including preparation and QA/QC protocols.
• Analyze and report assay QA/QC data and sample turnaround time.
• Provide accurate geological data including sampling, assay, logging, and orientation information for geological models and reports.
• Enter geological data including dispatch logs, logging, drilling data and assay results with validation of QA/QC data.
• Support the execution of the diamond drill programme as per drill designs.
• Assist with core loggers and sample dispatches and maintain logging systems.
• Support regional field programmes including geological mapping, soil sampling, and geophysics.
• Participate in development of personal training strategies and undertake training modules.

Job Description

Undertaking core logging responsibilities with the Exploration and Geology team.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

• Undertake logging of exploration and grade control drill core in atimely and accuratemanner.
• Supervision of core shed technicians during the sampling process, including sample preparation and the maintenance and monitoring of correct samplingprotocols.
• Analysis and reporting of assay quality control data and sample turnaroundtime.
• Provide accurate and complete geological data including sampling, assay, logging, and orientation information, required to enable generation of geological models, presentations andreports.
• Data entry of geological data including dispatch logs, geological logs, drilling data and assay results including validation of QA/QCdata.
• Support the execution of the diamond drill programme as per drilldesigns.
• Administrative support for core loggers including supervision of sample dispatches; support and maintenance of loggingsystems.
• Assist with regional field programmes including geological outcrop mapping, soil sampling, andgeophysics.
• Other activities as required to support the mining and exploration activities of the company.
• Participate in development of personal training strategies and undertake appropriate trainingmodules.

Qualifications

• Tertiary Qualification – minimum BSc. Geologyor EarthScience.
• Full and current driver licence, ability to drive manual vehicles isrequired.
