Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Hawkes Bay Fallen Soldiers Hospital is seeking a General Surgeon to join the Surgical team. The role involves managing a wide range of general surgical conditions and participating in the on-call roster (currently 1:10) with potential expansion.

An experienced endoscopist for both upper and lower gastrointestinal procedures is essential, with interest or post-fellowship training in Breast, Colorectal, Bariatric or UGI surgery advantageous.

Qualifications

• Registered or eligible for registration with the New Zealand Medical Council as a Specialist General Surgeon.
• Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, or equivalent.
• Approved higher qualification in Surgery enabling Vocational Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.

Responsibilities

• Manage a wide range of General Surgical conditions.
• Fully participate in the General Surgical on-call roster (1:10 currently, with expansion).
• Endoscopy experience for upper and lower GI procedures required.
• Engage in teaching and leadership within the service.
