Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is seeking a General Surgeon to join the Hawke’s Bay Surgical team in Hastings. The role requires commitment to high-quality care, teamwork, teaching and leadership, and participation in the on-call roster to manage acute cases.

An experienced endoscopist for both upper and lower GI procedures is essential, with opportunities for fellowship-like growth in Breast, Colorectal, Bariatric or UGI surgery. Hawke’s Bay lifestyle is a bonus.

Qualifications

• Registered or eligible with the NZ Medical Council as a Specialist General Surgeon.
• Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons or equivalent.
• Higher qualification in Surgery enabling Vocational Registration.

Responsibilities

• Manage a wide range of General Surgical conditions.
• Fully participate in General Surgical on-call roster and manage acute patients.
• Perform upper and lower GI endoscopy as part of the role.
• Interest or post-fellowship training in Breast, Colorectal, Bariatric or UGI surgery is advantageous.
