Oceania Healthcare Ltd, The Bellevue village in Christchurch, is seeking an experienced General Manager to lead the village and its dedicated team. This key site leadership role holds overall responsibility for people, care, operations and commercial performance.

You’ll oversee a 71-bed care centre and an independent living village of about 68 residences, set the direction, foster a resident-first culture, drive occupancy, manage budgets and ensure compliance and high-quality care.

Qualifications

  • At least three years’ experience in health and/or business management.
  • At least three years’ people leadership experience in diverse environments.
  • Proven experience leading teams within healthcare, hospitality or similar complex services.
  • Strong commercial and financial capability with ability to translate insights into action.
  • Experience managing operations, budgets, occupancy and compliance.
  • Excellent relationship-building and communication skills.
  • Ability to balance resident wellbeing with quality, compliance and financial sustainability.
  • Visible, supportive leadership style with clear expectations.

Job description

Our The Bellevue village in Christchurch is looking for an experienced General Manager to lead the village and its dedicated team.

This is a key site leadership role with overall responsibility for the people, care, operations and commercial performance of The Bellevue. You’ll have oversight of approximately 71-bed care centre alongside an independent living village of approximately 68 residences, leading a diverse team and supporting a large community of residents and their families.

As General Manager, you’ll set the direction for the site and be a visible and approachable leader for residents, families and your team. You’ll balance the day-to-day operation of the village with longer-term planning, performance and continuous improvement, taking ownership of everything from team capability and resident experience through to occupancy, budgets and compliance.

What we’re looking for

You’re an experienced and confident leader who enjoys being visible, connected and involved in the day-to-day life of a village. You know how to bring people together around a clear direction, hold high standards and balance the needs of residents and your team with the commercial realities of running a successful business.

You’ll bring:
  • At least three years’ experience in health and/or business management

  • At least three years’ people leadership experience, ideally within a culturally diverse environment

  • Proven experience leading teams within healthcare, hospitality or another complex service-based environment

  • Strong commercial and financial capability, with the ability to understand performance and turn insights into action

  • Confidence managing operational performance, budgets, occupancy and compliance

  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills

  • The ability to make sound decisions that balance resident wellbeing, quality, compliance and financial sustainability

  • A visible, supportive leadership style with the confidence to set clear expectations and hold people accountable

  • A calm, optimistic and solutions-focused approach
