Job summary

Fulton Hogan in Whanganui, New Zealand, seeks an experienced Gardener to shape beautiful, safe spaces for communities. In this hands-on role, you will support grounds maintenance across public gardens, street plantings and parks, out on the tools daily.

You know your craft, take pride in your work, and want to deliver Good Work that the community sees every day. Requirements include Level 3 Horticultural qualification or equivalent hands-on experience, plus a Full Class 1 driver licence.

Qualifications

• Level 3 Horticultural qualification or equivalent hands-on experience in horticulture, landscaping or grounds maintenance.
• Proven plant knowledge and practical experience working in public gardens or similar outdoor environments.
• Full Class 1 driver licence and confidence driving a manual vehicle.
• Strong planning, problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to take ownership of your work.
• A Safety-first mindset and comfort working outdoors in all weather conditions, including around live traffic where required.

Responsibilities

• Carry out daily work to meet contract requirements and client expectations.
• Maintain garden beds, street plantings, parks and landscaped areas to a high standard.
• Operate and care for gardening equipment and machinery in line with company policies and safety requirements.
• Support the wider team to deliver quality outcomes across planned and reactive maintenance work.
• Contribute ideas for improving planting, maintenance practices and seasonal displays.
