Job summary

Papakura Art Gallery, part of Auckland Council, is seeking a dedicated coordinator to engage our communities and celebrate creativity locally and across Tāmaki Makaurau. This permanent, part-time role (21.5 hours/week) runs Wed–Sat and focuses on exhibitions, public programmes, and community events.

You will promote diversity, support accessibility, and collaborate with colleagues to deliver engaging arts activities.

Qualifications

  • Experience coordinating community arts events, exhibitions, and public programmes

  • Creativity and strong organisational skills with attention to detail
  • Comfort using digital tools and social media for promotion

Responsibilities

  • Providing exceptional customer service and ensuring the gallery is a safe, functional, and welcoming place.
  • Coordinating exhibitions, public programmes, and community arts events.
  • Raising the profile and reputation of Papakura Art Gallery by designing and delivering relevant and responsive public programmes that engage the communities it serves.
  • Embracing Te Ao Māori values and principles in everyday work.
  • You have experience coordinating community arts events, exhibitions, and public programmes.
  • You have a passion for diverse communities and empathy for people from a range of social and cultural backgrounds.
  • You have a flair for creativity and bring exceptional organisational skills, attention to detail, and innovative ideas for community engagement.
  • Your confidence using digital tools and social media to promote local arts activity will impress.
  • You are receptive to working in an agile and collaborative team environment and are a strong team player.
