Job summary

Auckland Council is seeking a part‑time Gallery Coordinator for Papakura Art Gallery, a unique stand‑alone space delivering exhibitions and community programmes. The role focuses on engaging communities, coordinating events, and raising the gallery's profile while embracing Te Ao Māori values.

The position is permanent part‑time (21.5 hours/week, Wed–Sat) with a flexible, supportive work environment and opportunities to contribute to local culture and creativity within Tamaki Makaurau.

Papakura Art Gallery is a unique stand‑alone gallery space in the heart of Papakura that offers the community it serves an exciting range of art exhibitions and community programmes.

This is an exciting opportunity to bring your expertise and energy to engage our communities and celebrate creativity locally and across Tāmaki Makaurau.

This is a permanent part‑time position of 21.5 hours per week, working Wednesday to Saturday.

Among other responsibilities, your day‑to‑day duties will include:

• Providing exceptional customer service and ensuring the gallery is a safe, functional, and welcoming place.
• Coordinating exhibitions, public programmes, and community arts events.
• Raising the profile and reputation of Papakura Art Gallery by designing and delivering relevant and responsive public programmes that engage the communities it serves.
• Embracing Te Ao Māori values and principles in everyday work.
• You have experience coordinating community arts events, exhibitions, and public programmes.
• You have a passion for diverse communities and empathy for people from a range of social and cultural backgrounds.
• You have a flair for creativity and bring exceptional organisational skills, attention to detail, and innovative ideas for community engagement.
• Your confidence using digital tools and social media to promote local arts activity will impress.
• You are receptive to working in an agile and collaborative team environment and are a strong team player.
• You can demonstrate an understanding of Te Ao Māori values and principles.

Band D - renumeration ($59,594 - $70,110)
