Rockquest Promotions Ltd in New Zealand is seeking a funding specialist to manage funding across programmes and trusts, from opportunity research to reporting. Reporting to the GM and Head of Operations, you’ll collaborate with Programme Managers, Finance, Data and Insights, and the wider team to plan, prioritise opportunities and meet funding
Rockquest Promotions | Remote within New Zealand | Part-time
Base salary with an additional performance incentive on top
Rockquest Promotions has a long history of creating opportunities for young people through the arts. Our programmes include Smokefreerockquest, Smokefree Tangata Beats, Rockshop Bandquest, Showquest, Toi, OnScreen and Stills, connecting generations of young creatives with audiences, mentors and opportunities across Aotearoa.
We have an established track record of securing funding, building trusted relationships with funders and partners, and delivering programmes with meaningful outcomes for young people.
This newly created role offers an opportunity to build on that foundation. You’ll strengthen existing relationships, develop new funding opportunities and turn our programme experience and evidence into compelling applications that support the next generation.
You’ll manage funding activity across RQP’s programmes, company and charitable trusts, from researching opportunities and writing applications through to accountability reporting and day-to-day funder communication.
This is a role in which you’ll personally prepare applications, bringing together programme information, budgets, participant outcomes and supporting evidence into clear, credible submissions.
Reporting to the GM, you’ll agree on funding priorities and targets with them. The Head of Operations will work closely with you on day-to-day planning, deadlines, budgets and programme detail.
You’ll work alongside Programme Managers, Finance, Data and Insights, and the wider RQP team. Priorities will be agreed to make effective use of your working hours and focus on opportunities that fit our programmes and organisational direction.
Research and assess suitable community, gaming, philanthropic, local and central government funding opportunities.
Maintain a prioritised funding plan and calendar across RQP’s programmes and entities.
Write persuasive applications and proposals tailored to each funder’s criteria.
Work with programme teams and Finance to prepare accurate application budgets and supporting evidence.
Build professional relationships with funders and coordinate responses to their requests.
Track funding decisions, conditions, payment schedules and reporting obligations.
Prepare and coordinate accountability reports, acquittals and progress updates.
Maintain complete records and provide the GM and Head of Operations with clear visibility into applications, secured funding, and emerging risks.
You’ll develop suitable new opportunities alongside renewals, including potential multi-year funding arrangements.
You have a successful track record of preparing funding applications and securing funding in New Zealand. You can explain what you personally contributed to that success.
You’re a strong writer who can make a compelling case while remaining precise about evidence, budgets and delivery commitments. You understand that successful funding work continues through to accurate reporting and maintaining a funder’s confidence.
You’ll bring:
Experience with community trusts, gaming trusts, philanthropic foundations, government funding or other contestable funding.
Excellent written communication and the ability to adapt applications to different criteria, audiences and word limits.
Confidence working with budgets, expenditure, restricted funding and accountability requirements.
Strong research, planning, document management and deadline control.
Good judgement about which opportunities are credible, achievable and aligned with organisational priorities.
The ability to work independently, gather information from busy colleagues and communicate progress clearly.
Experience in arts, education, youth development or charitable organisations would be valuable. Strong, transferable funding experience from other sectors is also welcome.
This role averages 24 hours per week across the year. Working periods will be planned and agreed in advance around application and reporting deadlines. Some periods will require more hours, while others will have no scheduled work.
You’ll receive a regular base salary, with an additional performance incentive paid on top for eligible funding secured above an agreed annual threshold. The incentive terms will be agreed separately with the GM.
The role is remote within New Zealand, with regular contact with the team. Occasional travel for meetings, events or funder engagements will be agreed in advance.
You’ll apply your expertise to established programmes with national reach, trusted relationships and a clear purpose: providing a stage for young people to create, develop and thrive.
There’s scope to improve our approach to funding, develop new relationships and contribute to the long-term future of youth arts in Aotearoa. You’ll work with a creative, practical team, with the flexibility of remote work and an additional reward for funding success.
