Job summary

Downer in New Zealand is seeking a reliable Driver Operator to safely operate plant and equipment on essential infrastructure projects. The role requires pre-start inspections, routine servicing, and accurate documentation, with a strong focus on safety and teamwork.

You will work closely with the crew and site leadership to deliver projects efficiently to a high standard. A Class 5 licence with truck and trailer experience is required; excavator experience is a plus, and a commitment to Zero

Qualifications

Current Class 5 Driver Licence with truck and trailer experience.
Experience operating excavators is advantageous.
Strong commitment to health, safety, and Zero Harm principles.
Ability to carry out routine plant inspections and basic maintenance checks.
Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a crew.
Reliability, flexibility, and a willingness to get involved in hands-on tasks.

Responsibilities

As a Driver Operator, you'll be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of plant and equipment while supporting day-to-day production activities.
You'll carry out pre-start inspections, assist with routine servicing and maintenance, complete required documentation, and contribute to a productive and safety-focused work environment.
