Job summary

Downer is seeking a Driver Operator based in Taumarunui to support road construction and maintenance by safely operating Class 5 vehicles and plant equipment. You will perform inspections, documentation, and assist with day-to-day operations in a safety-conscious environment.

The role requires a full Class 5 licence, a proven track record with heavy vehicles, and a commitment to Zero Harm. Strong teamwork and communication are essential, with some truck/trailer experience desirable.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Full Class 5 Driver Licence.
• Ability to safely operate heavy vehicles and plant equipment.
• Strong commitment to health, safety, environmental, and Zero Harm practices.
• Good record-keeping and reporting skills, including experience using Actuate or similar systems.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication skills and willingness to assist across a variety of operational tasks.

Responsibilities

• Operate Class 5 vehicles and plant equipment to support Road Construction and Maintenance crews.
• Assist with delivery of maintenance and operational activities across the network.
• Complete inspections and documentation, promoting safety and environmental responsibility.
