Smartly, a Datacom company, is hiring a Smartly Full Stack Engineer to advance our payroll SaaS platform used by thousands of clients. You will work across front-end and back-end technologies, mentor others, and contribute to secure, scalable software.

The role emphasizes collaboration, modern tooling, and continuous learning in a hybrid Auckland-area style, with strong emphasis on delivering robust payroll solutions in NZ.

Qualifications

• 2+ years on IT projects across multiple SDLC phases.
• Recent C# .NET experience with at least 2 years of .NET development.
• Experience with web front-end technologies (HTML, JavaScript, CSS, React or ASP.NET Razor).
• Good understanding of software architecture, design patterns, SOLID principles, and OO programming.
• Knowledge of Git for software configuration management.
• Familiarity with service-oriented frameworks.
• Ability to implement features, unit tests, and fix complex bugs.
• Excellent communication to support cohesive teams.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day delivery of assigned work, clarify feature ambiguity, manage tasks, support releases, verify in production.
• Contribute to team delivery by inputting effort estimates, raising risks, communicating progress, and helping deliver work predictably.
• Contribute to team quality via testing, code reviews, safe change practices, and focus on correctness, maintainability, security, and performance.
• Use modern tooling, automation, and AI-assisted development to improve delivery efficiency and code quality.
• Mentor junior engineers through collaboration, review feedback, and strong engineering practices.
