Job summary

Smartly is hiring a Full Stack Engineer to work on our Payroll System. As a SaaS product serving 20,000+ clients, you will design, build, and maintain front-end and back-end features using C# .NET, HTML, JavaScript, CSS, and React or Razor.

You’ll mentor juniors and help ensure code quality and robust delivery. You’ll join a fast-growing FinTech team in New Zealand, collaborating across disciplines, using modern tooling and AI-assisted development to improve delivery efficiency, security, and

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of experience on IT projects across the SDLC.
• Recent C# .NET development experience (2+ years).
• Experience with front-end technologies: HTML, JavaScript, CSS, React or ASP.NET Razor.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, SOLID principles, and OO.
• Proficient with Git and source control.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day delivery of assigned work, clarifying feature ambiguity and supporting releases.
• Collaborate to estimate effort, raise risks early, and help the team deliver predictably.
• Contribute to quality through testing, code reviews, and safe change practices.
• Leverage modern tooling, automation and AI-assisted development to improve delivery and code quality.
• Mentor junior engineers through collaboration and feedback.
