Job summary

Four Square Otaika is seeking a Baker Superstar for our Fresh Foods team in Whangārei. This part-time role offers 2–5 days per week with a minimum 12 hours, starting as early as 4am. Weekend availability is required to support our bakery and deli operations.

Join us to help bake a range of breads and pastries, support new offerings, and provide great service in a fast-paced environment. Training and team support are available throughout.

Qualifications

• Previous baking or commercial kitchen experience preferred.
• Genuine passion for food and baking.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Willing to learn and follow food safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Bake a variety of breads, pastries, cakes, slices and other baked goods.
• Present products to a high standard for customers.
• Follow recipes and production requirements accurately.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe baking area.
• Follow strict food safety and hygiene procedures.
• Collaborate with Fresh Foods and Deli teams.
• Assist with other fresh food prep, including sandwiches and heat-and-eat items.
• Support upcoming sushi range and new offerings.

About the Role

Are you passionate about baking, fresh food and creating products our customers love?

Four Square Otaika is looking for an enthusiastic Baker Superstar to join our Fresh Foods team. This is a part-time position , with the opportunity to work 2-5 days per week , depending on availability. A minimum of 12 hours per week is available, with the potential for more.

An early start is required, with shifts starting from 4am , and you must be available to work at least one weekend day .

You'll be responsible for preparing a range of fresh baking products for our customers, while also supporting our wider Fresh Foods and Deli operation.

Key Responsibilities

• Bake a variety of fresh breads, pastries, cakes, slices and other baking products.
• Prepare and present baking products to a consistently high standard.
• Follow recipes and production requirements accurately.
• Ensure all products are fresh, well presented and ready for our customers.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe baking area.
• Follow strict food safety and hygiene procedures.
• Work collaboratively with the wider Fresh Foods and Deli team.
• Assist with other fresh food preparation when required, including sandwiches, pizzas, chicken and chips, and other 'heat and eat' products.
• Help bring our exciting new fresh food offerings to life, including our upcoming sushi range.

• Has previous baking or commercial kitchen experience - baking experience is highly desirable.
• Has a genuine passion for food and baking.
• Takes pride in producing quality products
• Can work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Is reliable, organised and has a great attitude.
  
• Is comfortable with some heavy lifting.
• Is willing to learn and follow food safety procedures.
  
• Enjoys working as part of a team.
  
• Can work early mornings and at least one day over the weekend.
