Job summary

Higgins is a leading construction and infrastructure company, delivering asphalt surfacing and civil projects across New Zealand. We are seeking an experienced Foreperson to lead crews across the Bay of Plenty, coordinating people, plant and materials to keep work moving safely and efficiently from start to finish.

You will plan activities, monitor productivity and quality, drive a proactive safety culture, and support crew development on site.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in asphalt surfacing, road maintenance or civil construction environments.
• Experience leading crews or coordinating site operations in a fast-paced setting.
• Strong knowledge of asphalt surfacing methods, site sequencing and construction activities.
• Ability to plan ahead, solve problems and adapt to changing site conditions.

We're looking for an experienced Foreperson to join our team and help deliver asphalt surfacing projects across the Bay of Plenty.

As a Foreperson, you'll lead crews delivering asphalt surfacing works across a variety of projects. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll coordinate people, plant and materials, keep work moving safely and efficiently, and ensure quality standards are met from start to finish.

In this role, you will

• Lead and supervise asphalt surfacing crews across daily site operations
• Plan work activities, coordinate resources and manage site readiness
• Monitor productivity, progress and quality outcomes throughout each shift
• Drive a strong safety culture through pre-starts, risk management and team leadership
• Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers and traffic management teams on site
• Coach, support and develop crew members while maintaining high performance standards

What you’ll bring to the role

• Proven experience in asphalt surfacing, road maintenance or civil construction environments
• Experience leading crews or coordinating site operations in a fast-paced setting
• Strong knowledge of asphalt surfacing methods, site sequencing and construction activities
• Ability to plan ahead, solve problems and adapt to changing site conditions
• A Class 1 Driver Licence, with WTR endorsements highly regarded
• Clear communication skills and a commitment to safety, quality and teamwork
