Job summary

New Zealand Couriers North Harbour is seeking an experienced Fleet Manager to lead and optimise fleet operations, contractor management, and performance across the network. This role ensures service standards, safety, and continuous improvement through hands-on leadership and analytics.

Based at the North Harbour branch, you will balance operational control with people leadership, compliance, and proactive service analysis to strengthen links between drivers, operations teams and customers.

Qualifications

• Experience in fleet, logistics, or operational management.
• Track record delivering financial outcomes and profitable performance.
• Strong leadership experience managing contractors or operational teams.
• Commercial awareness with ability to interpret data and drive outcomes.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building across levels.

Responsibilities

• Lead fleet and contractor performance to meet KPIs, standards and compliance.
• Oversee contractor engagement, performance and recruitment as needed.

We’re looking for a driven and experienced Fleet Manager to lead and optimise fleet operations within our North Harbourbranch. This role is critical to ensuring high-performance service delivery, strong contractor management, and continuous operational improvement across the network.

The role

Based at our North Harbourbranch, the Fleet Manager, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day performance of contractors and fleet operations to ensure industry-leading service delivery. You will balance operational control with people leadership, compliance, and continuous improvement, while fostering a positive and high-performing team culture. Providing hands‑on assistance where needed and getting involved with service analysis and reporting, you’ll strengthen the link between our drivers, operations teams and customers.

This is a full time position working standard business hours.

What you’ll be doing

• Lead fleet and contractor performance to consistently deliver against KPIs, service standards, and compliance requirements
• Manage contractor engagement, performance, and recruitment as required
• Monitor operational and financial performance, driving productivity and cost efficiency
• Support business growth through strong operational execution and collaboration with sales and internal teams
• Promote a strong health, safety, and wellbeing culture across all fleet operations
