Job summary

Canstaff is seeking an experienced Fitter Turner for Napier to join a specialist engineering and maintenance team. The role covers workshop machining and on-site maintenance, focusing on large, one-off or small-batch items rather than high-volume production.

The successful candidate will be trade-qualified, proficient with manual lathes and mills, and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Overtime and weekend breakdown support are expected.

Qualifications

  • Trade-qualified Fitter Turner preferred.
  • Strong experience with manual lathes and mills.
  • Solid understanding of speeds, feeds, tolerances, and fits.
  • Proven maintenance experience preferred.
  • Confident working independently without close supervision.
  • Clear English communication skills.
  • Full NZ driver's licence (ability to drive company vehicles).
  • Comfortable working at heights; confined space experience preferred.
  • Own full set of basic hand and battery tools (required on day one).

Qualified Fitter Turner – Napier

Location: Napier
Pay Rate: up to $49ph
Employment Type: Full-time, permanent
Overtime & weekend work available

Our client is currently seeking an experienced and qualified Fitter & Turner to join their specialist engineering and maintenance team. This role suits a confident tradesperson who enjoys varied, hands-on work and can operate independently both in the workshop and on client sites.

About the Role

You'll be working primarily on large, one-off or small-batch items, not high-volume production work. The role includes both workshop machining and on-site maintenance and breakdown support.
