Job summary

Tradestaff in Christchurch is seeking a Fire Alarm Technician to join a busy team. You will install alarm systems, test and inspect, and perform servicing and fault diagnosis.

The role welcomes candidates with hands-on fire alarm experience, a solid electrical background, or a relevant trade qualification. Immediate start with weekly pay.

Fire Alarm Technician

Tradestaff is looking for a Fire Alarm Technician to join a busy team in Christchurch. We’re open to candidates with hands‑on fire alarm experience, a solid electrical background, or a relevant trade qualification. If you have practical technical skills, enjoy fault finding, and want to develop further within the fire protection industry, we want to hear from you.

Location: Ferrymead, Christchurch

Start date: Immediate start

Pay rate: $32–$40 per hour + weekly pay

What You'll Be Doing

• Install fire alarm systems, devices, cabling, and associated equipment


• Test and inspect systems to ensure correct operation


• Carry out servicing and preventative maintenance


• Diagnose faults and assist with repairs


• Support system upgrades and alterations


• Assist with commissioning and functional testing


• Complete work safely and accurately to required standards

What We're Looking For

• Previous fire alarm industry experience, relevant electrical experience, or a suitable trade qualification


• Practical understanding of electrical systems, cabling, or fire alarm equipment


• Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving ability


• Confident using relevant hand tools and testing equipment


• Able to follow technical instructions and complete work accurately


• Reliable, safety‑conscious, and willing to continue developing your technical skills


• Capable of working independently when required and contributing effectively within a team
