Job description

About The Opportunity

DebtManagers is a growing business that is changing the way debt recovery is approached across New Zealand and Australia. The culture is fast-paced, collaborative and down-to-earth. Leaders are approachable, people are encouraged to take ownership, and there's a genuine appreciation for those who roll up their sleeves, challenge thinking and get things done. Reporting to the Head of Finance, this is an opportunity to take ownership of financial reporting, controls and compliance across New Zealand and Australia. Leading a team of four, you'll be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information, delivering a timely month-end close and overseeing the day-to-day financial operations of a growing business. This is a hands-on leadership role with a strong focus on technical accounting, financial control and reporting. You'll play an important part in delivering existing priorities while helping the business progressively strengthen its financial processes, systems and governance.

What You’ll Bring

You’ll be a technically strong, commercially aware individual who enjoys being close to the detail while also bringing the confidence and leadership capability to guide a team. You may be a Senior Manager from a Big Four or mid-tier accounting firm looking to move industry, or an experienced Financial Reporting Manager or Finance Manager who has worked within a growing, evolving business. Most importantly, you’re someone who is comfortable operating in an environment where not everything is perfectly structured. You’re pragmatic, adaptable and willing to make decisions, find solutions and bring others along with you.

Ideally, You’ll Bring
  • CA or CPA qualification with at least five years' post-qualification experience.
  • Strong technical financial accounting, reporting and audit experience, including IFRS.
  • Experience leading and developing a finance team or demonstrated leadership capability.
  • Sound knowledge of financial controls, compliance and governance.
  • A collaborative, hands-on approach, with the confidence to challenge constructively and drive results.
What’s on Offer
  • A supportive, approachable leadership team and an engaged finance team.
  • The opportunity to influence financial reporting, controls and processes across a growing trans-Tasman business.
  • Flexible start and finish times, with an office-based working environment.
  • Free on-site parking, regular team lunches and an active social culture.

If you’re looking for a role where you can combine your technical accounting expertise with hands-on leadership and be part of a business that is going places, we’d love to hear from you
