Job summary

An established New Zealand manufacturing business is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join their finance team. This broad role suits an candidate with around five years’ accounting experience or a part-qualified accountant looking to step up, offering exposure to financial reporting, compliance and business projects.

Working closely with the Financial Controller, you’ll prepare journals, reconciliations and monthly reporting, assist with budgets and statutory returns, and contribute to system

Qualifications

• Around 5 years’ accounting experience, ideally in commercial or manufacturing.
• Relevant accounting study or a willingness to continue developing.
• Strong Excel skills and good understanding of general ledger and reconciliations.
• ERP experience; Greentree would be advantageous.
• NZ driver licence.

• Prepare GST, FBT, PAYE and other statutory returns
• Maintain the fixed asset register and assist with stock analysis

The opportunity

We’re working with an established New Zealand manufacturing business looking for an Assistant Accountant to join their finance team. This is a broad role suited to someone with around five years’ accounting experience, or a part‑qualified accountant looking to step up. You’ll work closely with the Financial Controller across financial reporting, compliance, reconciliations and general accounting, while also supporting wider business projects. The role has plenty of scope to develop over time, so we’re looking for someone who is keen to learn, get involved and grow with the business.
