Job summary

Hunter Campbell – East Tamaki, North Island is seeking a hands-on Financial Controller to lead the finance function across two related FMCG businesses. You will own reporting, cash flow and commercial insight, with budget setting and board exposure on a clear growth path.

You will work closely with the GM in a small, fast-paced team, bringing 5+ years of financial management, CPA/CA qualification and strong ERP/Excel capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and Board reporting packs.
• Manage cash flow forecasting and working capital across inventory, debtors and creditors.
• Lead the annual budgeting process and monthly forecasting.
• Partner with the GM and leadership team on margin, pricing and promotional ROI.
• Own inventory valuation, costing accuracy and stock reconciliations.
• Maintain financial controls, GST/FBT compliance and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Drive process and ERP improvements, with scope to introduce AI-enabled efficiencies.
• Supervise and develop the AP/AR function.

Our client is a well-established New Zealand FMCG business with a loyal, long-standing brand portfolio and a small, close-knit team. The business works closely with a second related entity, giving this role genuine breadth beyond a typical Financial Controller remit.

The Role

Reporting to the GM, you'll lead the finance function across two related FMCG businesses, owning reporting, cash flow and commercial insight. This is a genuinely hands-on, 2IC role with a clear growth path, including budget setting and board exposure, for someone ready to build on what's already working.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and Board reporting packs
• Manage cash flow forecasting and working capital across inventory, debtors and creditors
• Lead the annual budgeting process and monthly forecasting
• Partner with the GM and leadership team on margin, pricing and promotional ROI
• Own inventory valuation, costing accuracy and stock reconciliations

Key Skills & Experience Required

• CA/CPA qualified with 5+ years in financial management
• FMCG background essential; understanding of trading terms and rebates highly valued
• Strong Excel skills and financial modelling capability
• ERP systems experience, including improvement and implementation
• Confident communicating financial information to non-finance stakeholders
• Comfortable operating hands-on in a small, fast-paced team
• Open-minded and resilient to change, with an interest in AI-enabled efficiencies
• Solutions-focused and pragmatic, able to push back constructively
