Job summary

The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) in Wellington CBD is seeking a Finance Business Partner to drive financial strategy across portfolios. You will partner with GMs and the Head of Finance to align plans with MBIE's strategic outcomes and ensure robust financial governance.

You will provide budgeting, forecasting and reporting, influence senior stakeholders, and deliver insightful analyses.

Qualifications

• CA (or equivalent) qualification is required.
• Experience in financial management and reporting within large, complex organisations.
• Strong ability to drive outcomes and manage diverse stakeholder interests.
• Excellent communication and ability to influence decisions for non-accountants.
• Strong analytical, strategic and planning skills; commercially savvy.
• Team player capable of collaborating at senior leadership level.
• Must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand.

Job description

• Are you a Finance Business Partner looking for the next step in your career?
• Permanent full-time opportunity based in Wellington CBD
• Salary $132,417 - $160,472 + KiwiSaver + wellness benefits

The Finance Business Partner reports to the Head of Finance within Corporate and Digital Shared Services. In this role, you will partner with GMs and the Head of Finance to set the direction and drive the implementation of financial strategy for your portfolio/s. While doing so, you will ensure alignment with the overall Ministry’s strategic plan and stated outcomes.

You will work with the business to provide financial advice, effectively influence senior stakeholders in addition to providing assurance to the GM’s that financial management processes, procedures and reporting comply with legislative requirements and best practice.

You will be key in ensuring the business delivers on their strategic financial outcomes, by providing budgeting and forecasting support, and reporting and analysis to support this.

Skills and Experience Required

We are looking for a self-driven and pragmatic CA (or equivalent) who has:

• Experience in financial management & reporting within large, complex and diverse organisations
• Strong experience in driving outcomes and managing diverse stakeholder interests
• Great communication skills and experience in leading conversations, influencing decisions and presenting performance insights in an articulate and easily comprehensible manner to non-accountants
• Strong analytical, strategic and planning skills as well as being commercially savvy
• Experience being a strong team player who is comfortable with collaborating and contributing at senior leadership team level
• Ability to engage and establish effective working relationships
• Have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand
