Job summary

Summerset is seeking a Finance Business Partner for Development Finance to support a portfolio of development and construction projects. The role blends financial insight, commercial guidance and strategic decision support to drive successful investment outcomes.

You will work closely with Development and Construction leaders, serving as a trusted advisor to shape business decisions and strengthen financial performance across major capital projects.

Qualifications

• Experience in management accounting, commercial finance or business partnering roles.
• Strong financial modelling, budgeting and forecasting capability.
• Proven ability to build credibility and influence stakeholders across operational and leadership teams.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate financial information into practical business insights.
• Exposure to construction, property, infrastructure, development or other project-based environments is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead budgeting, forecasting and performance reporting for a portfolio of development and construction projects.
• Develop financial models and robust business cases to inform investment decisions.
• Provide commercial insights, recommendations and challenge where appropriate.
• Support project governance and contribute to investment decisions.
• Identify risks and opportunities and drive continuous improvement in financial discipline.
• Partner with Development and Construction leaders to influence business decisions.

As our Finance Business Partner - Development Finance, you'll play a key role in supporting a portfolio of development and construction projects, providing financial insight, commercial guidance and strategic decision support that helps drive successful investment outcomes.

Working closely with Development and Construction leaders, you'll act as a trusted advisor, helping shape business decisions and supporting the financial performance of significant capital projects. You'll lead budgeting, forecasting and performance reporting, develop financial models and business cases, provide commercial insights and recommendations, and contribute to investment decisions and project governance. You'll also identify risks and opportunities, drive continuous improvement, and help strengthen financial discipline across projects.

This is a true business partnering opportunity where you'll move beyond traditional reporting to provide commercial challenge, influence key decisions and contribute to major investment outcomes.

Location: Wellington preferred, open to Auckland-based candidates.

You're a commercially astute finance professional who enjoys building relationships, influencing stakeholders and helping the business make better decisions. You bring a strong combination of technical expertise and commercial acumen and enjoy partnering with stakeholders to drive business outcomes.

• CA ANZ or CPA qualified, or working towards completion.
• Experience in management accounting, commercial finance or business partnering roles.
• Exposure to construction, property, infrastructure, development or other project-based environments is highly desirable.
• Strong financial modelling, budgeting and forecasting capability.
• Proven ability to build credibility and influence stakeholders across operational and leadership teams.
• Strong commercial judgement with the confidence to provide constructive challenge and recommendations.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate financial information into practical business insights.
