Job summary

JLG Industries is seeking a Field Service Technician to service and repair customer equipment across a designated territory from the branch, focusing on elevated work platforms and telehandlers.

You will travel to customer sites, perform inspections, servicing and on-site repairs where possible, and complete paperwork in line with JLG policies and NZ standards. Overnight travel may be required, and strong communication with customers is essential.

Qualifications

  • Trade qualification in elevating work platform technology or related field.
  • Experience in a similar role with mechanical, hydraulic and electrical knowledge preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build rapport with internal and external customers.
  • Valid drivers' license.
  • Good language, literacy and numeracy to write notes and read manuals.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out inspections, servicing and repairs of equipment with a focus on elevating work platforms, telehandlers and lighting towers.
  • Attend customer sites and repair on site when possible to limit off-site transportation.
  • Travel including overnight accommodation when required.
  • Complete paperwork and inspection forms per JLG policy and NZ/ANZ standards.
  • Notify field service coordinator if repairs cannot be completed and reason why.
  • Conduct customer visits to secure new business and report outcomes to Branch Manager.
  • Liaise with technical support and interpret manuals as needed.
  • Perform van audits and stock takes.
  • Enter accurate job notes and generate sales/service leads with the team.
  • Carry out general duties as requested by Branch Manager.

Job Summary

The overall scope of the role is to carry out servicing and repairs to customer equipment in a designated territory remotely from the branch location with a focus on elevated work platforms and telehandlers in the field as required.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.

  • Carry out inspections, servicing and repairs of equipment with a focus on elevating work platforms, telehandlers and lighting towers
  • When attending to customer’s sites make every effort to repair machines on site limiting the need to transport the machines off site
  • Be available to travel including overnight accommodation when requested
  • Responsible for accurately completing all appropriate paperwork and inspection forms required by JLG policy, Australian and New Zealand Standards and customer and/or site requirements
  • Responsible for notifying the field service coordinator if repairs or services can’t be completed during visit and the reason why
  • When not impacting the inspections, servicing and repairs of equipment, to carry out customer visits with the intent of securing new business in consultation with the Field Service Coordinator, reporting outcomes to the Branch Manager
  • Liaising with technical support including the interpretation of manuals where required
  • Conduct van audits and stock takes
  • General administrative duties relevant to the role including entering accurate job notes
  • Generating sales and service leads where possible and collaborating with the team
  • As a Field Service Technician, you are also required to carry out general duties from time to time as requested by the Branch Manager

  • Maintain personal retail labor utilization rates as per target
  • As a Field Service Technician, you are also required to carry out general duties from time to time as requested by the Branch Manager
Minimum Qualifications
  • Trade qualification in elevating work platform technology, heavy vehicle, diesel, automotive, auto electrical or related field
  • Previous experience in a similar role – experience with mechanical, hydraulic and electrical advantageous
  • Ability to effectively communicate both written and verbal
  • Ability to establish rapport with internal and external customers
  • Drivers’ license
  • Proficient Language, Literacy and Numeracy including the ability to write job notes, read safety information, machine manuals and street signs and understand basic numeracy such as time, parts numbers and quantities
  • Ability to travel up to 50%
