Job summary

JDE Peet’s in Christchurch is seeking a Field Sales Representative & Coffee Care Specialist who will travel between Out of Home customers, from cafes to hotels, supporting and growing a loyal coffee-focused customer base. You’ll perform on-site equipment checks, deliver barista expertise, and run training sessions to raise engagement and knowledge about our coffee brands.

Qualifications

• Experience with coffee machinery and equipment
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Desire to learn and develop in sales with a passion for coffee/tea
• Strong literacy and numeracy capabilities
• Confident and considerate in customer interactions
• Bonus: prior business development experience
• Willingness to travel and hold a full, clean driver’s license
• Must have valid unrestricted work visa for NZ

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounts across Christchurch and surrounding areas
• Visit customer sites, perform equipment checks on espresso machines, grinders and automatic systems
• Provide valet service for equipment maintenance and cleaning
• Demonstrate barista skills and share knowledge to elevate the customer cup
• Organise and host training sessions to grow customer engagement
• Monitor operating procedures to ensure compliance across customers
• Maintain transparent communication and manage time and call cycles with customers

Job Description

If you are currently a main/head barista with a good skill set in roasting, coffee machinery, and training looking for a role to springboard you into an exciting sales career, our Field Sales Representative & Coffee Care Specialist position is an opportunity to explore.

In this role, you would travel between a number of our Out of Home customers (bars, restaurants, cafes, petrol stations, hotels, offices etc.) in the Christchurch Region and surrounding areas with some occasional out of town trips.

As a Field Sales Representative & Coffee Care Specialist you’d play a critical role in supporting our existing customers in a full-service style capacity. What does that mean?

• Day-to-day account management of a customer base spread across the Christchurch and surrounding areas
• Attending customer sites, implementing equipment checks on a variety of machines ranging from espresso machines and grinders to automatic equipment placed across a variety of segments including cafes, hotels, petrol stations, leisure and Health Care facilities
• Support with some valet work for our customers: the cleaning and maintenance of their coffee equipment
• Get behind the machine and wow our customers with your barista skills, sharing your knowledge and passion for the perfect cup
• Grow customer engagement and expertise by organising and hosting training sessions
• Monitor operating procedures to ensure compliance across our diverse customer base
• Work transparently with clear communication, managing your time and customer call cycle

Qualifications

We’re looking for someone who has the following skills and experience:

• Coffee Machinery knowledge
• A real people person, you get along easily with new people and enjoy meeting many people
• A drive to learn and develop in sales, with an absolute passion for all things coffee and tea
• Strong literacy & numeric skills
• Confident and considerate in your approach to customers and new situations
• Previous business development experience is a bonus
• Full clean driver’s license and the willingness to be on the road the majority of your time
• Valid unrestricted work visa
