Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Community Mobiliser for field-based work in Queenstown, Eastern Cape. You will engage local residents, raise awareness of social issues, and galvanise participation in community initiatives.

The role focuses on building trust, coordinating with community leaders, recruiting volunteers, and reporting on activities. Travel within Queenstown and surrounding rural areas is expected.

Qualifications

• Matriculation certificate or equivalent; tertiary education in a related field is advantageous.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in community work, outreach, or mobilisation.
• Proven ability to engage with diverse community groups and build rapport.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
• Strong understanding of community development principles and practices.

Responsibilities

• Engage directly with community members to understand local needs and concerns.
• Raise awareness about key social issues and available programs or services.
• Mobilise community participation in meetings, events, and project activities.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, residents, and local organisations.
• Facilitate community discussions and gather feedback on program effectiveness.
• Identify and recruit community volunteers and advocates.
• Support the implementation of community-based projects and initiatives.
• Report on community engagement activities, progress, and challenges.
• Act as a liaison between the community and the organisation.
