Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a proactive Community Mobilization Officer to engage communities and empower residents in the Queenstown area. The role involves organizing meetings, workshops, and events to promote collaboration and collective action.

You will work directly with community members, leaders, and organizations, building capacity and fostering sustainable development through participatory approaches. This is a field-based position with significant community interaction.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• 2–3 years in community mobilization or development work.
• Experience in facilitating community meetings and engaging diverse groups.
• Strong understanding of community development principles and participatory approaches.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
• Willingness to do field-based work with significant community interaction.
• Proficient in basic report writing and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Engage with community members, leaders, and local groups to foster participation in development initiatives.
• Facilitate community meetings, workshops, and focus groups to identify needs and resources.
• Develop and implement community mobilization strategies to encourage collective action.
• Build capacity of community members and local organizations through training and mentorship.
• Mobilize communities to participate in program activities and local governance processes.
• Establish and maintain relationships with local authorities, NGOs, and stakeholders.
• Document engagement activities and provide regular reports.
• Advocate for community needs in relevant forums.
• Support formation of community-based structures and committees.
