Job summary

Jora New Zealand is seeking a skilled ICT and Telecommunication Technician to join the team in Rotorua. The role focuses on telecommunications design, installation, and maintenance of network infrastructure and fibre optic systems.

Candidates should have hands-on experience with fibre, OTDR testing, VoIP, and RF analyzers, plus ability to troubleshoot to minimize downtime and support O&M for telecom systems.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in telecommunications technology, network design and installation.
• Knowledge of IT maintenance and operations.
• Ability to work on fibre optic systems and RF testing.

Responsibilities

• Design, install, and maintain network infrastructure, including switching and fibre optic systems.
• Conduct outside plant (OSP) work, including fibre optic cable installations and terminations.
• Perform network configuration, testing, and optimization for seamless operations.
• Hands-on experience with splicing, operating OTDR, splice machine, source meter, and power meter to test the connectivity from P2P.
• Operate and maintain radio frequency (RF) testers and analyzers to ensure high-quality network performance.
• Provide operations and maintenance (O&M) support for telecommunications systems.
• Work on the configuration and troubleshooting of Class 5 soft switch telecom systems.
• Test and analyze Voice over IP (VoIP) protocols to ensure reliable and secure communication.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement and maintain telecommunications solutions.
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues promptly to minimize downtime.
