Job summary

BW COMS LTD is seeking a skilled Telecommunications Technician in New Zealand to install, maintain, test and repair telecom equipment across residential, commercial and network sites. You will work with fibre optic and copper cabling, perform fault diagnosis, and ensure services are installed and operating safely and to standard.

A NZ driver's license and Level 3 Telecommunications certificate are required.

Qualifications

Experience with fibre optic and copper telecom systems.
Ability to install, terminate, test and troubleshoot fibre optic and copper cabling.
Experience with testing and diagnostic equipment.
Knowledge of fibre optic testing and fault-finding techniques.
Knowledge of copper cable testing and fault-finding techniques.
Ability to read telecom plans, drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

Install, maintain, test and repair telecommunications equipment and data transmission systems.
Install, terminate, connect and test fibre optic and copper cabling.
Carry out fibre optic installation, termination, jointing and testing.
Perform fibre optic testing with optical power meters, light sources and OTDR equipment.
Identify and diagnose faults in fibre optic cabling, copper cabling, telecommunications equipment and associated systems.
Reading and interpreting telecommunications plans, drawings, specifications and work instructions.
Configure telecommunications equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications and network requirements.
Test completed fibre, copper and telecommunications installations to ensure they meet required standards.
