Job summary

Unison Contracting is seeking a Faultsperson to join our Hawke's Bay team. The role focuses on responding to faults across the electricity network, restoring supply and ensuring community safety. You’ll work in a 24/7 fault response environment with on-call standby requirements.

Ideal candidates have electrical registration or line mechanic registration, a current practising licence, and at least 5 years’ experience. Strong fault-finding, communication and safety commitment are essential.

Qualifications

• Electrical Registration or Line Mechanic Registration.
• Current Practising Licence.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience as an Electrician or Line Mechanic.
• Strong fault-finding and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
• A strong commitment to health and safety.
• Willingness to work in all weather conditions and participate in a standby roster.

Responsibilities

• Responding to network faults and power outages.
• Investigating, isolating and restoring power safely and efficiently.
• Carrying out approved switching on network equipment.
• Issuing permits and ensuring safe working clearances.
• Testing, earthing and commissioning network equipment.
• Responding to emergencies and accidents involving electrical assets.
• Liaising with Control Room Operators, contractors, emergency services and the public.
• Maintaining safety equipment and vehicles.
• Supporting public and worker safety at all times.

Job description

At Unison Contracting, we're looking for a Faultsperson to join our Hawke's Bay team. This is a critical role responsible for responding to network faults, restoring power to customers, and ensuring the safety of our communities and field teams across the electricity network.

The Opportunity

As a Faultsperson, you'll be part of a dedicated team providing a 24/7 fault response service across the network. You'll investigate and isolate faults, restore electricity supply, carry out switching operations, and respond to emergency situations when required. This role includes participation in an on-call standby roster.
