Job summary

Unison Contracting is seeking a motivated Trainee Line Mechanic to join our Taupo team on a permanent full-time basis. You will assist qualified line mechanics to repair and restore lines, cables and equipment, while learning to install new equipment on overhead lines and underground cables.

The role involves customer-facing duties and teamwork to support the crew. We provide industry-standard practices, PPE, health insurance for you and family discounts, life and income protection insurance,

• Physically fit and able to work outdoors and at heights.
• Able to work effectively in a team and follow instruction.
• Committed to learning and developing technical skills on electrical lines.

Responsibilities

• Assist registered Line Mechanics to repair and restore lines, cables and equipment.

• Maintain courteous interaction with customers and the public.
• Support team members and document duties performed.

We are currently looking for Trainee Line Mechanics to join our team in Taupo. These are permanent full-time roles with guaranteed fortnightly pay in a stable and supportive environment.

What you'll do:

• Assist registered Line Mechanics to repair and restore lines, cables and equipment.
• Undertake appropriate education and experience to be able to install new equipment and services on both overhead lines and underground cables.
• Work in close contact with customers and the public, remaining courteous and helpful at all times.
• Work in a team environment to actively support fellow team members.
• Complete documentation relevant to the performance of duties

• Have a minimum four years secondary school, with NCEA passes in Maths and English.
• Ideally have a full, clean drivers licence.

Interview and Selection Process:

• A face to face interview, where we dive into your skills, experiences, and what you could add to the team.
• Successful applicants will be required to undertake a pre-employment medical assessment (including drug and alcohol test) and physical assessment.
