Job summary

Wellington Electricity in Upper Hutt invites applications for a Faults and Maintenance Coordinator. The role supports efficient scheduling and coordination of maintenance and repairs across the network, acting as a central point with managers, engineers and service providers to ensure safe, timely and cost-effective delivery.

You will manage work orders, assist with budget and performance reporting, and support health and safety, audits and compliance.

  • Maintain registers and records of maintenance activities, costs and completed work orders.
  • Support health and safety compliance, audits, reporting and safety initiatives.
  • Prepare budget reporting, obtain quotes, raise purchase orders and track expenditure.
  • Prepare reports on maintenance progress, KPIs and budget performance.
  • Coordinate communication between maintenance teams, internal stakeholders and external service providers.
  • Support encroachment complaints management.
  • Collaborate with teams across Service Delivery, Finance, Contracts Performance, IT and Health, Safety and Wellbeing.

The Opportunity

The Faults and Maintenance Coordinator is a key role responsible for supporting the efficient management, scheduling and coordination of maintenance and repair activities across Wellington Electricity’s network.

Working closely with the Manager Faults and Maintenance, Engineering Delivery Managers, Project Managers, Asset Engineers and service providers, you will act as a central coordination point to help ensure maintenance activities are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with Wellington Electricity’s requirements.

You will coordinate planned and corrective maintenance activities, manage work orders, support fault and emergency response reporting, maintain accurate records and provide budget and performance information.

This role may also be required to support activities outside normal working hours when a major event is called, reflecting the 24-hour, seven-day nature of Wellington Electricity’s operations.

What You’ll be Doing

Receive, log, prioritise and manage maintenance requests and fault reports using the relevant Maintenance Management System.

Coordinate preventative and corrective maintenance plans and daily work schedules.

Support timely and accurate reporting for urgent repairs, incidents and network outages.

Maintain administrative registers and accurate records of maintenance activities, costs and completed work orders.

Support health and safety compliance, audits, reporting and safety initiatives.

Prepare budget reporting, obtain quotes, raise purchase orders, process invoices and track expenditure.

Prepare reports on maintenance progress, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and budget performance.

Coordinate communication between maintenance teams, internal stakeholders and external service providers.

Support the management and allocation of encroachment complaints.

Work collaboratively with teams across Service Delivery, Finance, Contracts Performance, Information Technology (IT), and Health, Safety and Wellbeing.

About You

We’re looking for an organised and solutions focused coordinator who can confidently manage competing priorities and maintain accurate information in a busy operational environment.

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:

Experience managing maintenance systems, maintenance activities or network faults.

Experience working in a technical coordination role.

Strong coordination, reporting and administrative capability.

Analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on practical and cost-effective solutions.

Experience supporting budget management and financial processes.

Strong communication and influencing skills.

Experience working in field or operational environments.

The ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Strong computer literacy and Information Technology (IT) skills.

A relevant tertiary or professional qualification is desirable.
