Job summary

Citycare Property is seeking a hands-on Facility Technician for Trentham Military Camp, Upper Hutt, NZ. The role covers general maintenance, repairs, and preventative tasks within a large, secure military site.

You’ll perform a range of activities from general building upkeep to reactive repairs, with a strong emphasis on safety and practical problem solving. NZ resident with a trade background is preferred.

Qualifications

We're looking for a hands-on Facility Technician to join our team at Trentham Military Camp, Upper Hutt. If you enjoy variety, practical problem-solving, and seeing the impact of your work every day, this could be the role for you.

Working across a large and unique military environment, you'll help maintain buildings, assets, and facilities that support the people who serve New Zealand. From general repairs and preventative maintenance to responding to site requests, no two days are the same.

As a Facility Technician, you’ll be part of the team responsible for keeping key facilities at Trentham Military Camp in good working order.

You’ll work across a range of general maintenance, repairs, compliance support, and facilities tasks. The work is varied, purposeful, and hands-on, with a mix of planned and reactive maintenance.

Your day-to-day work may include:

  • Carrying out general building and facilities maintenance
  • Responding to reactive maintenance requests and repairs
  • Completing planned preventative maintenance activities
  • Identifying faults, hazards, and repair requirements

This role would suit someone who enjoys physical, practical work and likes the satisfaction of seeing the direct impact of what they do each day.

We’re looking for someone practical, reliable, and safety-focused who enjoys solving problems and taking pride in their work. You’ll be someone who can get stuck in, think on your feet, and take ownership of your work. You’ll also be comfortable working both independently and as part of a wider team, communicating clearly with your colleagues, site contacts, subcontractors, and Defence personnel. You’ll bring:

  • Previous experience in facilities maintenance, building maintenance, trades, handyperson work, or a similar practical role

Strong all-round maintenance and repair skills

  • A trade background or practical experience across areas such as carpentry, plumbing, painting, general repairs, mechanical, electrical, or building services
  • A good understanding of health and safety, with a proactive approach to working safely
  • Strong communication skills and a respectful, professional approach
  • A current full New Zealand driver licence
  • Full New Zealand working rights
  • Ability to pass a Defence Clearance check, Criminal Check and Drug & Alcohol/Medical check
