Job summary

Unitec is seeking a Facilities Technical Coordinator to join our Property team. You will coordinate maintenance, manage contractors, and support BWoF compliance across our campuses to keep facilities safe and efficient.

With a Level 6 qualification in engineering or related field and experience in facilities management, you will monitor building services, drive improvements, and maintain records while collaborating with staff and stakeholders.

• Experience in facilities management, property services or building maintenance.
• Knowledge of building services systems and contractor management.

Responsibilities

• Coordinating planned and reactive maintenance activities.
• Overseeing service contractors and ensuring performance.
• Supporting Building Warrant of Fitness (BWoF) compliance requirements.
• Monitoring building services systems (HVAC, electrical, fire protection, lifts).
• Assisting with minor capital works and property improvements.
• Ensuring health, safety and compliance by contractors and staff.
• Maintaining accurate maintenance and compliance records.
• Building positive relationships with staff, contractors and stakeholders.

Job description

As we continue this exciting journey, we're looking for a Facilities Technical Coordinator to join our Property team and help ensure our campuses remain safe, compliant, efficient and fit for the future.

About the role:

This is a diverse and hands-on role where you'll coordinate maintenance activities, oversee service contractors, support building compliance requirements, and assist with the delivery of minor property projects across our campuses.

Working closely with internal stakeholders and external service providers, you'll play a key role in maintaining the performance and reliability of our facilities and building systems.

Key responsibilities include:

• Coordinating planned and reactive maintenance activities
• Managing contractor performance and service delivery
• Supporting Building Warrant of Fitness (BWoF) compliance requirements
• Monitoring and maintaining building services systems including HVAC, electrical, fire protection, lifts and associated building services and systems
• Assisting with minor capital works and property improvement projects
• Ensuring health and safety requirements are met by contractors and service providers
• Maintaining accurate maintenance and compliance records
• Building positive relationships with staff, contractors and stakeholders

What you’ll bring

To be successful in this role, you'll have:

• A Level 6 qualification in engineering, building services, facilities management or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience
• Experience working in facilities management, property services, building maintenance or a similar environment
• Knowledge of building services systems and contractor management
• Strong organisational and coordination skills
• The ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
• A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• A commitment to health, safety and compliance
• Flexibility to take on any works assigned
• A full New Zealand driver's licence
