Job summary

PwC New Zealand is seeking an experienced External Audit Manager to join our Assurance team in Ōtautahi / Christchurch. Based in our modern offices overlooking the Avon River, you'll lead a varied portfolio of audit engagements, partnering with established New Zealand businesses and internationally connected organisations.

You’ll own engagements from planning through to completion, develop client partnerships, coach junior staff and apply rigorous IFRS knowledge and professional judgement.

Qualifications

• 4+ years' external audit experience in a professional services environment.
• Lead audit engagements from planning through to completion.
• Professional accounting qualification (CAANZ/CPA/ACCA/ICAEW) or active progress towards one.
• Strong IFRS knowledge and commitment to audit quality.
• Bachelor's or master's degree in accounting or closely related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of external audit engagements from planning through to completion, delivering high-quality outcomes while managing client expectations and engagement teams.
• Develop trusted relationships with clients across a broad range of industries, gaining insight into their businesses, understanding emerging risks and bringing fresh perspectives to financial reporting.
• Lead, coach and inspire junior team members and graduates, creating an environment where people feel supported, challenged and empowered to grow.
• Apply your technical expertise and professional judgement to complex audit matters, financial reporting, internal controls and engagement quality.
• Champion smarter ways of working by embracing innovative technology, digital audit tools and new approaches that enhance quality and efficiency.
