This is a hands‑on opportunity where you’ll lead from the front while helping deliver quality roading and civil projects.

Pay rate: $30–$35 per hour, paid weekly
What you'll be doing
- Lead and supervise the asphalt crew across roading and civil projects, coordinating daily labour, plant, materials, equipment and work activities.
- Plan and manage daily site operations, including pre‑start meetings, toolbox talks, job planning and keeping work progressing to programme.
- Oversee asphalt preparation, laying, spreading, compaction, finishing and repairs, ensuring work meets required plans and specifications.
- Monitor asphalt temperatures, levels, falls, thickness and finished quality, addressing workmanship or quality issues as they arise.
- Operate and oversee the safe use of asphalt and civil machinery, including rollers, compactors and paving equipment, ensuring appropriate checks and maintenance are completed.
- Manage site safety and traffic management requirements, identify hazards and controls, and ensure the crew follows all Health & Safety procedures.
- Complete QA documentation and site records, communicate with supervisors, project managers, subcontractors and clients, and train and mentor less‑experienced team members.

What we're looking for
- Proven experience as an Asphalter who is ready to take the next step and progress into a Team Lead role.
- Strong understanding of asphalt operations and the responsibilities involved in leading a crew.
- Full NZ Class 1 driver licence is essential.
- WTR endorsements and a Class 2 licence are beneficial.
- Comfortable working day and night shifts depending on the roster, with shifts typically between 10–12 hours.
