Job description

Jora New Zealand will close on 9th September 2026. Thank you for being with us, we are cheering you on as you continue your career journey.

Looking for a role that’s dynamic, exciting, and full of variety? We’ve got just the thing!

Tūhura Otago Museum delivers an incredible line-up of events, from large-scale after-hours parties and spectacular balls to inspiring talks, hands-on workshops, private conferences, and so much more. We’re on the lookout for an Events Coordinator to help us plan, organise, and deliver both public and private events.

You’ll join a supportive, experienced team whose work attracts nationwide attention. This role is fast-paced, creative, and fun with the chance to work alongside community groups, businesses, and partners across the city to deliver some of the most diverse and exciting events in the region.

Industry experience is an advantage, but not essential. You might come from a background in sales, customer service, hospitality, or administration. What matters most is your passion for events and your drive to make them unforgettable. Whether you’re great at growing commercial bookings, or a hospitality pro who knows how to run a seamless event, we’d love to hear from you. Fresh ideas for new event offerings are encouraged; we’re always looking for ways to engage and inspire our visitors.

Day-to-day, you’ll be:
  • Planning schedules and event calendars
  • Budgeting and managing costs
  • Liaising with clients, suppliers, and community groups
  • Setting up and delivering events (often as Duty Manager)
  • Working closely with our internal teams and external partners

We’re looking for someone who is organised, creative, efficient, and above all a people person with excellent communication skills.

This is a full-time, one-year fixed-term parental leave cover role, working a Tuesday to Saturday roster. However, we’re open to discussing part-time hours for the right candidate. If you’re interested in part-time hours, please indicate your availability in your cover letter.

In return, you’ll join an organisation that values its people, nurtures a creative and enjoyable culture, and makes a meaningful impact in the community.

If you have any questions regarding the role please get in touch at**@tuhura.nz

Applications closeFriday 28 August, however, we may begin considering and interviewing candidates as applications are received.
