Job summary

AUTSA is seeking an enthusiastic Events Coordinator to help deliver major student events across AUT University campuses. This hands-on role involves logistics, equipment management, and supporting student clubs to run successful events.

You will work closely with the Senior Events Manager to ensure events are safe, engaging and professionally delivered. We’re looking for someone with strong communication, organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy student

Qualifications

  • Experience coordinating or delivering events.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working with volunteers or customers.
  • A current Full New Zealand Driver Licence (preferred).

AUTSA is looking for an enthusiastic and highly organised Events Coordinator to join our team and help deliver some of the biggest and most exciting student events at AUT University.

From O-week, Clubs Expo, Wellbeing Week and major student celebrations, you'll play a key role in creating memorable experiences for thousands of students across our City, North and South campuses.

This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same.

About the Role

Working alongside the Senior Events Manager, you'll help coordinate and deliver AUTSA's annual events programme, ensuring every event is safe, engaging and professionally delivered.

You'll also be responsible for event logistics, equipment management, volunteer coordination and supporting student clubs to deliver successful events of their own.

If you enjoy being active, solving problems and seeing months of planning come together on event day, this role is for you.

What You'll Be Doing

Assist with the planning and delivery of AUTSA events across all campuses.

Coordinate event logistics and operations.

Set up and pack down events.

Maintain event equipment and storage areas.

Support student clubs with events and equipment.

Coordinate volunteers and contractors.

Assist with Health and Safety planning.

Help create engaging experiences that make university life memorable.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is:

An excellent communicator who builds positive relationships with students, colleagues and suppliers.

Reliable, organised and able to manage multiple priorities.

Comfortable following direction while also using initiative.

Calm under pressure and solutions-focused.

Passionate about student engagement and events.

Physically fit and happy undertaking manual event work, including lifting equipment, setting up marquees and loading vehicles.

Flexible to work occasional evenings and weekends when required.

Skills & Experience

Ideally you'll have:

Experience coordinating or delivering events.

Excellent organisational and time management skills.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Experience working with volunteers or customers.

A current Full New Zealand Driver Licence (preferred).

Please note: This is a practical, hands-on role that involves regular lifting, manual handling and event setup and pack down. Applicants should be comfortable undertaking the physical requirements of the position.
