Job summary

HEB Construction seeks an Environmental Advisor on a 12-month fixed-term parental leave cover to champion environmental management across our infrastructure projects in New Zealand. You will work with the Environmental Regional Partner and project teams to ensure regulatory compliance and effective environmental outcomes.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in a similar advisory role, knowledge of NZ environmental legislation, strong communication, and a collaborative mindset to drive improvements

Qualifications

• 2+ years' experience in an environmental advisory role within construction.
• Knowledge of New Zealand environmental legislation and regulatory requirements.
• Strong communication skills and ability to engage with project teams and stakeholders.
• A collaborative approach to drive environmental outcomes across projects.

Responsibilities

• Support project teams to meet environmental and compliance requirements.
• Develop and maintain Environmental Management Plans and documentation.
• Conduct monitoring, inspections and audits for compliance.
• Investigate environmental incidents and drive continuous improvement.
• Provide environmental input into planning and delivery of projects.
• Deliver training and promote environmental best practice across projects.

HEB Construction is a dynamic and innovative leader in the construction of New Zealand's Infrastructure. We are involved with a variety of projects from road construction and maintenance through to earthworks, drainage, marine works, and major projects of national significance.

We are seeking a motivated Environmental Advisor to join us on a 12-month fixed-term parental leave cover, championing the delivery of environmental management solutions across our projects and ensuring compliance with project requirements, environmental standards, and regulatory obligations.

Working closely with the Environmental Regional Partner and project delivery teams, you'll provide practical environmental guidance and support the successful delivery of a range of infrastructure projects.

About You

You’ll bring:

• 2+ years' experience in an environmental advisory role or similar within the construction industry
• Knowledge of NZ environmental legislation
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with project teams and stakeholders
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• A collaborative approach and commitment to driving positive environmental outcomes across projects

It would also be advantageous if you have:

• A tertiary qualification in an environmental related field
• Experience engaging with councils, regulators, mana whenua/iwi, and community stakeholders
• Strong understanding of environmental risks and controls associated with a range of construction methodologies

Key Responsibilities

Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

• Supporting project teams to meet environmental and compliance requirements
• Developing and maintaining Environmental Management Plans and documentation
