Job description

At Oji Fibre Solutions - Forest Resources, our manufacturing operation is committed to the efficient and complete use of sustainably sourced virgin wood-fibre from renewable forestry resources. We take pride in producing world-class market kraft pulps, which are used in a wide range of boards and specialty products around the world.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced engineering professional to bring practical technical capability into our Supply Chain and Stores function and help improve how engineering inventory is identified, managed and utilised.

At Oji Fibre Solutions, our Supply Chain and Stores teams play a critical role in supporting safe, reliable and cost-effective manufacturing operations. Effective management of engineering spares helps ensure the right equipment is available when required while making the best use of inventory already held onsite.

About the role:

We are looking for a practical, hands-on Stores Engineer to provide dedicated engineering support across the inventory lifecycle. The role will focus on identifying and technically assessing engineering spares, validating specifications and material master data, improving critical-spares management, and helping ensure existing inventory is considered before new purchases are made.

Working closely with Stores, Supply Chain, Maintenance and Engineering, you will support inventory clean-up and optimisation activities, resolve technical sourcing queries and help identify duplicate, obsolete, surplus and unidentified stock. Your technical judgement will also help ensure valuable or critical equipment is properly assessed before it is removed or disposed of.

This is a casual role based at Kinleith, supporting both the Kinleith and Tasman mills. Hours will be offered as required based on workload and business priorities, with travel to Tasman as required.

Role Responsibilities Include:
  • Identify and technically assess engineering spares, including condition, application and suitability for use
  • Validate and improve material descriptions, technical specifications and SAP master data
  • Identify duplicate, obsolete, surplus and unidentified inventory and support appropriate action
  • Support the identification and effective management of critical engineering spares
  • Provide technical support to Stores and Supply Chain, including technical sourcing queries for the purchasing team
  • Check whether suitable inventory is already held onsite before replacement equipment is purchased
  • Support Stores clean-up, inventory optimisation and improvement activities across Kinleith and Tasman
  • Work collaboratively with Stores, Maintenance, Engineering and Supply Chain to confirm equipment requirements and applications
  • Provide clear, practical technical recommendations that protect inventory value and reduce operational and disposal risk
About you

You’ll bring practical engineering experience, ideally supported by a relevant engineering trade, diploma or degree qualification, or equivalent industrial experience. You will be confident identifying engineering components and working from technical information, specifications and drawings.

Experience in a manufacturing, maintenance, engineering stores or heavy industrial environment will be highly regarded. Familiarity with inventory systems, material master data or SAP would be advantageous, but is not essential.

You’ll be practical, analytical and self-directed, with the ability to investigate issues, make sound technical judgements and communicate clearly with a range of operational stakeholders. You will be comfortable balancing value, reliability and risk while working to agreed business priorities.

What We Can Offer You
  • Competitive hourly rate
  • Flexible casual hours aligned with workload and business requirements
  • Varied technical work across a significant engineering spares portfolio
  • Opportunity to make a direct impact on inventory utilisation and working capital
  • Supportive, experienced and committed team
  • Exposure to both Kinleith and Tasman manufacturing operations
  • Opportunity to contribute to ongoing Stores and Supply Chain improvement initiatives

In accordance with Company policy, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a pre-employment medical examination, drug test and Ministry of Justice criminal history and right to work in New Zealand check. Oji Fibre Solutions will meet these expenses.

Applicants must be either a NZ Citizen, Resident Visa holder or have the legal right to work in New Zealand.

We are actively looking to fill this role and encourage your early application. Applications are reviewed regularly, and we reserve the right to remove the advertisement before the advertised closing date.

Research shows that females and minority groups don’t always apply for roles unless they match 100% of the requirements. So, if this role is of interest but you feel you don’t quite fit, we encourage you to apply anyway. We are enriched by many nationalities, languages, religions, customs, and lifestyles. We are proud of our diversity and see it as one of the things that make us better together.
