Job summary

Oji Fibre Solutions – Forest Resources (Kinleith Mill) is seeking a laboratory professional to carry out testing and reporting that supports mill operations and customer needs. You will handle process samples and contribute to timely, accurate laboratory services across the site.

You will have a tertiary qualification in science and prior lab experience in an industrial setting, with a focus on accuracy, problem solving and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Structured laboratory testing experience or education in science.
• Experience in industrial, environmental, or manufacturing labs is desirable.
• Ability to work in a collaborative team and maintain accurate records.

Responsibilities

• Conduct laboratory analysis of process samples and environmental specimens, reporting results and ensuring conformance to standards.
• Prepare chemicals, calibration solutions and reagents; manage consumables and stocks.
• Maintain laboratory equipment through calibration, maintenance and troubleshooting; support new equipment commissioning.
• Support investigations, technical problem solving and training for site personnel.
• Monitor quality systems and ensure HSNO and QA compliance across the site.

At Oji Fibre Solutions – Forest Resources (Kinleith Mill), our manufacturing operation is committed to the efficient and complete use of sustainably sourced virgin wood-fibre from renewable forestry resources. We take pride in producing world-class market kraft pulps, which are used in a wide range of boards and specialty products around the world.

About the role:

Reporting to the Chemist, you will be responsible for carrying out laboratory testing, analysis, reporting, equipment maintenance, and quality assurance activities that support the mill's operations and customers.

You will work with a wide range of process samples and play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely laboratory services are provided across the site.

What you will be doing:

• Conduct laboratory analysis of process, quality and environmental samples, including reporting and interpretation of results for conformance and continuous improvement.
• Prepare laboratory chemicals, calibration solutions and reagents, and manage consumables and chemical stocks
• Maintain laboratory equipment through calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting and support for commissioning new equipment
• Support process investigations, operational problem-solving, technical support and training for site personnel
• Monitor laboratory performance and quality systems while ensuring compliance with laboratory safety, HSNO and quality assurance requirements

What you will bring:

Holding a tertiary level qualification in Science Studies, you will be passionate about science, laboratory testing and delivering accurate results that support industrial operations. You will have previous laboratory experience in an industrial, environmental, manufacturing or scientific environment, and enjoy variety, problem solving and working as part of a collaborative team.
