Job summary

Department of Corrections NZ seeks an Engineering Manager for a Canterbury food processing site. The role reports to the Plant Manager and leads the engineering team, driving improvements, maintenance and regulatory compliance across the site.

You will manage budgets, oversee contractor engagements, and implement continuous improvement projects to enhance efficiency and output while ensuring safety and quality standards are met.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent trade certification.
• Minimum 5 years in a food processing environment.
• Minimum 2 years as Engineering/Maintenance Manager.
• Experience managing engineers and contractors.
• CMMS experience and strong Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the Engineering department.
• Perform preventive maintenance of production equipment.
• Prepare and present reports and management reviews.
• Ensure Quality Engineering Best Practice.
• Generate and maintain budgets.
• Hire, train, mentor and supervise staff.
